China has accelerated the speed of building-up of the world-class universities owing to the factor that more people are paying much attention to the world ranking of university, but it has proved by no means as easy as expected before. Maybe it is time to have a deep thinking about the problems existed. With the interpretation and the definition of the standard of world-class universities, this paper explored the reasons that China dedicate to build up the world-class universities, and the problems and approaches concerned in order to attract more people＇s further attention to this issue.
