研究发现，红皮云杉的初期生长较慢，但１０ａ生以后生长速度逐渐加快，到２０ａ生时其胸径和材积总生长量均超过同等立地条件下的长白落叶松；在经营管理上，红皮云杉应加强早期管理并及时修枝，修枝方法应采用紧贴树干平切的方法．
