This paper analyzes the plot and the characters of The Merchant of Venice,and based on the historical religion conflict,it illustrates the difficult situation of the Jews in the Middle Ages,and reveals the clash between the Christians and Jews in that era.And finally it analyzes Shakespeare＇s viewpoint on anti-traditional view in Renaissance period.
