The Quest and the Criticism——The Comparison of the Movie Life on a String and the Novel Life as String

电影《边走边唱》改编自小说《命若琴弦》,小说和影片中的主要人物形象以及彼此之间的关系是一致的,但情感却发生了很大变化,这些变化彰显了各自的不同内涵:小说表现了人类对生存之路的追寻和永远在路上的生存状态,而电影则突出了对极端的理性精神、愚昧的家族制度和盲目的个人崇拜的批判,最终却失去了观众。

The movie Life on a String was adapted from the novel Life as String,and the relationship between the main characters in the novel and the movie is almost the same.However,the feelings are different.This paper tries to explore the deep meanings lying behind these differences.The novel shows the quest hunting for the way of existence and the condition being on the way,and the movie highlights the criticism for extreme rationalism,ignorant patriarchal family system and blind cult of personality,but lost the audience at last.
