首都国际机场从１９５９年投入使用后历经多次扩建，仅航站楼就有三代之分。而１９９９年竣工的新航站楼，在服务功能、设施水准、技术能力等方面的变化更反映了我国民航事业不断发展壮大，逐步赶超世界先进水平的进程。新航站楼的设计始终在创新、为人服务和可持续发展的指导思想下，进行各种设施、系统、专业的通盘考虑。

The Capital International Airport has experienced several extensions since operation in 1959. There havebeen three generations of terminal buildings. The new terminal building completed in 1999 shows development of ourcountry's aviation in service functions, equipment standards and technical capability and the progress of keeping pace withthe world advanced level. In pursuit of originality, service and sustainability facilities and systems of the terminal are designedin an integrated way.
