Diagnosis and Treatment of POEMS Syndrome

目的总结POEMS综合征的临床特征及诊治方法,以提高对该病的认识。方法回顾性分析8例确诊的POEMS综合征患者的临床表现、实验室检查及治疗、预后情况。结果 8例患者除具有多发性周围神经病变(8/8)、肝脾肿大(6/8)、胸腔和腹腔积液(4/8)、内分泌改变(7/8)、皮肤色素沉着(5/8)等典型的临床表现外,还可伴有视盘水肿(1/8)、贫血(3/8)等。主要治疗药物为糖皮质激素和免疫抑制剂。结论 POEMS综合征临床表现复杂,人们对其认识不足,容易误诊,应加强对该病的认识。

Objective To study the clinical features of POEMS syndrome and to improve the diagnosis of the disease.Methods Clinical data of eight patients with identified POEMS syndrome were analyzed retrospectively,including their clinical manifestations,laboratory tests,treatment and prognosis.Results In addition to the typical characteristics like polyneuropathy（8/8）,organomegaly（6/8）,pleural effusion and seroperitoneum（4/8） endocrinopathy（7/8） and skin changes（5/8）,the patients of POEMS syndrome also had other important features including papilledema（1/8）and anaemia（3/8）,et al.The therapeutic drug were mainly glucocorticoid and immunosuppressor.Conclusion The clinical characteristics of POEMS syndrome is complex,and at present,it remains to be an underdiagnosed and undertreated disease,so more attention should be drawn in case of false diagnosis and misdiagnosis.
