民族精神是一个民族赖以存在和发展的精神支柱,是凝聚和激励民族生命力的精神力量。从静态看,民族精神有广义和狭义两种理解。狭义的民族精神是指民族文化中积极、进步、充满进取意识的、优秀的方面,有时又被称作文化精神;从动态看,民族精神是一个历史范畴,往往与时代精神黏合在一起。对于一个民族来说,重视自己的民族精神并以优秀文化传统来培育自己的人民,就是强化自己赖以生存的团结、生存、发展的精神力量。把时代精神熔铸在民族精神之中,对于当代中国有着特别重要的价值和意义。

The nation spirit is the spiritual pillar that a race relies for existence and development,and it is also the spirit strength for coagulating and encouraging the race vitality.Seeing from the static state,the nation spirit has two comprehensions——broad sense and narrow sense.The nation spirit of narrow sense means the excellent aspects as race culture in aggressive,progress and full of enterprising consciousness.Sometimes,it is also called cultural spirit.Seeing from the dynamic state,the nation spirit is a history category,usually matched together with time spirit.The core of Chinese nation spirit is patriotism and has special importance of value and meaning at the contemporary.
