Positron emission Tomography (PET) is one of the modem medical imaging techniquesand plays a powerful role in the study on the human brain, including normal state and many brain diseases.18F-FDG PET has been most widely used in basic research and clinical neurology, such as human braindevelopment and aging, localization of cerebral functional area,diagnosis and management of brain tumor,epilepsy and Alzheimer's disease. Neuroreceptor imaging is the characteristic approach of brain PET andhas been successfully applied to the study of brain aging, neuron activity, Parkinson's disease, psychiatric diseases and drug development. The evaluation of cerebral blood flow with H215O and oxygen metabolism with 13O steady-state method is also an important aspect in the study of brain function andcerebrovascular diseases.
