Toni Morrison creats a series of black images who fall in ecological spiritual trouble under racial oppression in The Bluest Eye, Sula, Song of Solomon. The invasion of the white - dominated culture makes them lose themselves. Polly's love for the white, Pecola's longing for the bluest eyes, Geraldine's and Helene' s acceptance of the life style and values of the white and the first Macon Dead's agony of losing himself explain Morrison's proposition on how to deal with the ecological spiritual crisis under racial discrimination, which is black people should respect and inherit their nation's cultural tradition and values, thereby forming their correct self - consciousness.
