文章阐述了可持续发展综合交通运输系统的内涵,从运输供给、需求和运输方式的外部性三个方面指出了可持续发展综合交通运输系统的三个发展方向,并对发达资本主义国家综合交通体系形成与发展进行了具体的分析,提出了其发展的三个阶段。即发展阶段、调整阶段和可持续发展阶段。论文对国内外综合交通体系的发展现状及规划理论研究现状进行了整体分析,进而从宏观、中观、微观、操作四个层面提出建立可持续发展综合交通运输系统规划理论体系的具体研究任务。
