王门后学管志道等人提出“无善无恶”说,冯从吾坚持“性善”论,对“无善无恶”说进行了深入的分析和批驳。他还进一步批驳了“无善之善”和“无无亦无”的论点,指出善本身是一个统一的整体,脱离道德实践的所谓纯粹的道德原则(无善之善)是抽象的,是不存在的;他认为“无无亦无”之说只能导致公心无而私心有,善心无而恶心有,因为人心是不可能归于一片虚无的。
Wang School's inheritors put forward the theory of "no good no evil". He insisted the theory of "Man's nature is good" and criticized "no good no evil',"Wu shan zhi shan" and "Wu wu yi wu" as well. He pointed out that "good" in itself was a unified whole, and that, divorced from moral practice, the so-called pure moral principles were abstract and inexistent. He maintained that "Wu wu yi wu" would lead to selfishness without public interest in/mind and evilness without kindness.
