绍兴的文化繁荣一般出现在乱世和末世，出现在王权、专制失控的时代。由一部绍兴名人文化史，我们不难发现在乱世和末世中，文人和剑客的活动表现得异常活跃。文人与剑客之间，相互依存、相得益彰。他们或成为至交，或共投一主，或集中一身，相互启发，相映生辉，从而折射出绍兴名人文化中“书剑气”互补的特点。文人与剑客殊途同归，只是方式不同，一个以书，一个用剑。

The cultural prosperity in Shaoxing usually emerged in the wartime or the final period of a dynasty and when the throne and dictatorship were out of control. It is not difficult for us to find the fact that literate person and swordsman presented to be very active from the history of cultural celebrities in Shaoxing. Interaction between literate person and swordsman perfects each other. Literary giants made friend through sword, and some literary giants served for the same masters, while someone else integrated these two merits in himself, and they prompted each other and lightened the world with their joint efforts, which reflected the characteristic of complement of literature and martial arts in the celebrity culture of Shaoxing. Literate person and swordsman reach the same path, while their ways are different, one is by book, and the other is by sword.
