翻译策略选择对非语言语境的顺应

The Adaptation to the Non -Linguistic Context in Selection of Translation Strategies

本文试以Jef Verschueren的顺应论为依托，以历史上中外翻译家的翻译活动为依据，探讨了译者的策略选择是对非语言语境的顺应结果。作者认为翻译活动是跨文化交际中不可或缺的手段，译者只有顺应了译者和译文读者所处的语境，翻译才能达到促进人们成功交际的目的。但是，译者在选择翻译策略的过程中并不完全是主动的，因为其摆脱不了时代的局限。所以，从某种意义上说，译者对非语言语境的顺应过程既是主动的也是被动的过程。

In the perspective of Jef Versehueren＇s Adaptation Theory, and with the analysis of the translation activities of some translators both home and abroad, this paper endeavors to illustrate that translators＇selection of strategies in translating process is the result of the adaptation to the non - linguistic context. And it holds that translation is indispensable to the cross -cultural communications, therefore; only when the adaptation to the two kinds of non - linguistic context is adequately made, can successful communications be achieved. However, a translator is not completely active in the process of strategy selection, for s/he is subject to the times that s/he is in. Therefore, in a sense, a translator＇s adaptation to the non -linguistic context is both an active and passive process.
