摘要
孙诒让《与王子壮论假借书》一文涉及假借产生的原因、运行机制以及假借的效能。假借的"依声托事"说明汉字不仅仅是表义的,也可以作为记音符号。假借、通假现象的存在说明汉字本身的记音符号功能,"以音记词"和"以形记词"共同承担汉语语言的记录职责。
Sun Yi-rang＇s Discussing Phonetic Loan with Prince Zhuang involves the origin and usage of phonetic loan characters.This essay has an opinion that Chinese characters can represent both meanings and sound,evidenced by phonetic loan characters.It also points out that in Chinese language characters are remembered though sound and shape.
