后湖黄册库是明王朝专门用来贮藏全国赋役档案的中央专用档案库房,堪称当时世界上规模最大的国家专门档案馆,但当明成祖迁都北京中央职能机构皆随驾北上之时,其却仍保留于原址未动。本文重点论述了其未随明中央政府迁往北京的原因,以期对今日的档案事业发展提供借鉴。

The Houhu Archives was the archives＇ storehouse specialized for central government and was specially used to store taxes archives,such as the Yellow Registers and the Land Registers.Looking from its size,the Ming Dynasty Houhu Archives could be called as the world＇s largest national special archives.However,the Houhu Archive still stayed there when Emperor Yongle moved the capital to Beijing as well as the central government＇s function agencies.The paper emphasis on the reasons for its not moving to Beijing with the central government.And hope that it can provide reference for the future development of archives.
