As a pioneer of Taiwan's woman literature,Zhang Xiuya not only persevered in her efforts to edit belletristic periodicals but also united obsession with China, and with Chinese traditional feminine consciousness in her poems when she lived in Beijing and Tianjin under Japanese military occupation during Anti-Japanese War.These poems are graceful and warmhearted in aesthetic construction. She contributed worthily to new poetry form and took the lead in the tide of writing long poem in Beijing by narrating Chinese ancient folk story in long poem under the influence of Allan Poe's The Bells.
