This thesis mainly discusses Jane Smiley＇s novel,A Thousand Acres,from an ecofeminist perspective.Ecofeminist ideas are illustrated through the specific analysis of women＇s identification with nature,women and nature under the control of patriarchy and awakening women and nature.By examining situations of women and nature under the domination by patriarchy in A Thousand Acres,this thesis reminds people that a new ideology that respects harmony and difference is very necessary and hopes to call for human beings to reflect upon how to balance the relationship between men and women,and how to get along well with nature.In addition,the adoption of ecofeminist theory can broaden the investigative perspective and help readers get a more comprehensive understanding of this novel.
