Listening to the Call of Mother's Love——An Analysis of Mother-Daughter Relationship in Toni Morrison's New Novel A Mercy

母女关系是莫里森关注的焦点,而爱与爱的缺失是其作品着力表现的主题,她的新作《慈悲》也不例外。依照鲍尔比的依恋理论,从爱的缺失、爱的寻找和爱的回归三个方面来解读这篇小说中所体现的女儿对母亲的依恋,以期找到奴隶下一代走出伤痛获得救赎的方法。

Mother-daughter relationship is the focus ofMorrison,while love or its absence is the eternal theme of her work and the new novel A mercy is no exception.With the help of Bowlby＇s attachment theory,this paper tries to interpret daughter＇s attachment to mother embodied in thisstory from the lack of love,the search of love as well as the return of love these three aspects,in the hope of finding theway for the off spring of slave to get out of pain and obtainre demption.
