The police authority of Xiamen City in coastal Fujian Province put a wanted poster on its micro-blog asking for public assistance to locate a suspect in a case of child murder. That was November 23, 2010, and only six days later the suspect was caught thanks to information gathered on the net. The incident is part of a growing trend to develop the potential of online policing functions.
