随着20世纪90年代电子图书的兴起,法兰克福书博会这一全世界最大的书展也一直密切关注其发展。在1993年第四十五届法兰克福书博会,电子出版物首次亮相,受到热烈追捧,然而从电子出版在法兰克福书展上的发展趋势来看,前景却并非预言那般美好,经历了热门、萧条、平淡之后,阅读习惯,内容的丰富性以及数字版权等问题都制约了电子出版的进一步发展。人们开始重新审视其与传统出版的关系:当今时代出版业的重头依然是传统纸质出版,电子出版并不能将其取代。

With the spring up of e-book during the 1990s,Frankfurt Book Exposition which is the biggest book fair had been paying attention to its development.Once electronic publication appeared for the first time on the 45th Frankfurt Book Exposition of 1993,it was pursued ardently.However,Seen from the develop trend of electronic publication,its prospect is not so good as predicted.After hotness,depression and ordinary,reading habit,abundant content,digital copyright and so on,all restrict the further developement of electronic publication.So people begin to review its relationship with the traditional pubilcation of that：nowadays, the traditional paper publication is the main stream,and the electronic publication is unable to displace it.
