The main goal of the experiment was to compare the effects of different oils on rumen microbial population and cellulose degradability in vitro.Three goats fitted with cannulas were used to provide rumen liquor; And 5 groups were control group, rapeseed oil(A),soybean oil(B),corn oil(C),peanut oil(D),respectively. The results showed that,no significant difference was detected in protozoal protein among groups, while remarkable differences were found in protozoal densities across groups, and protozoal densities tended to increase from A to D.Protozoal community structures differ from each other, and significant differences were found in several genuses, such as Entodinium,Isotrichidae,Epidinium,Diplodiniinae across groups. In addition, all the four kinds of oil did not affect the cellulolytic bacteria such as Fibrobacter succinogens,Ruminococcus albus, and Ruminococcus flavefaciens;however, the oil supplementation increased Butyrivibrio fibrisolvens, and the promoting effects increased with unsaturated degree of oils. And generally, oil addition didn't significantly affect cellulose degradability(P0.05).In conclusion, excepted for rapeseed oil,4% oil in the substrate had not significant influence on the cellulose degradability, while had profound effects on microbial population.
