Most of us never reflect on how many of the places we visit are planned by landscape architects. The field comprises small-scale measures that provide modest enrichments of our daily life, as well as the complex structural and strategic interventions that determine whether nature will prevail over us - or vice versa.Through projects from the Nordic countries, the exhibition, MANMADE ENVIRONMENT, shown at DogA during the Oslo Architecture Triennale last autumn, demonstrates that landscape architecture is about so much more than aesthetics. Used strategically it can supply sustainable solutions, promote health and improve living conditions for people in both urban and rural areas.
