分析主人公布朗所受到的三次打击及此后痛苦的觉醒过程,揭示了他如何一步步受到内心邪恶的驱使,又逐渐觉醒认识到周围人的伪善邪恶的本质。但是他虽然认识到罪恶却又无法认清自己,也不能挺身与之抵抗,最终变成了一个异化的人,孤独绝望地死去。

The analysis was made of the protagonist Brown＇s three deadly blows and the painful awakening afterwards, through which the revelation was made of how he was driven by inner evil and gradually became awakened to surrounding persons＇ evil and hypocritical nature.However,despite his realization of evil nature of others,he could neither form a clear idea of himself nor rise up fighting against the evil,which led to his being alienated and his lonely and desperate death.
