The research and development of 5% Ni submarine steel were retrospectively summarized,and its microstructure,mechanical properties and weldablity in site were introduced.10Ni5CrMoV steel is the 5% Ni submarine steel used in China.The microstructure of the 10Ni5CrMoV steel with high tempering characteristics is Sorbite and hs tendency of cold cracking was low.The welded joint with high toughness can be obtained by the proper post heat treatment.
