摘要
上海新舞台是中国第一个新式舞台,潘月樵、夏月珊兄弟等在此编演了大量的时装新戏,这些戏内容上宣传革命和自由思想,舞台布景上力求真实,演出上唱少白多。百年过去了,这股戏曲改良的思潮还一直影响着我们,新舞台的戏曲改良运动成败得失至今还值得我们去认真思考。
The Shanghai New Stage was China's first new-style theatre in both architectural and organizational terms, where Pan Yueqiao and Xia brothers put up a number of new Peking operas in modem dress. These plays advocated revolution and liberty. The stage design tended to be realistic, and speaking outweighed singing in performance. This trend of reform is still with us even though a century has passed. Its pros and cons are worth serious considerations today.
