随着全球经济一体化及对外开放的进一步深入,我国很多中小城市也迎来了不少外国商人与游客。因此,这些城市的公共场所逐渐添加了一些英文标识语。这本是一件方便外国友人的好事情,但遗憾的是,这些英文标识语目前还存在着一些错误及不规范现象,这不但不能给外国友人带来方便,还有可能造成误解。造成这些错误的原因也多种多样,但只要译者事先做好充分的调查研究,了解英文标识语的重大作用,翻译时认真仔细,这样的错误都是可以避免的。

With the globalization in economy and the further development of Chinese opening and reformation,more and more foreign busnessmen and tourists come to the small cities and towns in China.As a result,English Signs are put up in many public places in order to make things convenient for foreigners.Unfortunately,many of the English Signs are wrong or misused,which can＇t bring convenience at all,but are misunderstood.The causes of these mistakes are different but they can be avoided if the translators are carful enough and understand the importance of English Signs.
