There was an endless dispute over Wen and Zhi during the 11-century-long process of ancient Buddhist scripture translation in China.From a cultural perspective,the dispute was not merely about the difference between translating methods or styles,but about how translators were made to choose between translating strategies of domestication and foreignizion,especially under the manipulation of the target culture.
