(P>0.05)。 Using a modification of the fluorometric method, we have measured the urinary vanillyimandelic acid (VMA)/24 hours in 33 patients with hyperthroidism and in 30 normal controls. The results showed that Their urinary VMA concentrations were similaras in normal controls (Their ranges were 15.14~111.99μmol/L and 23.21μ~101.40μmol/L respectively; their mean±SEM were 51.51±25.77μmol/L and 46.72 + 16.951xmol/L respectively). There was no significantdifference in urinary VMA in hyperthyroidism patients and normal controls (P>0.05). And there was no striking relationship between urinary VMA and serum T_3、 T_4 in hyperthyroidism patients(r=0.171, r=0.338, P>0.05). Cateeholamine are regarded to the major end product of VMA. Urinary VMA measurements provided the index of catecholamine release and plasma catecholamine concentrations. These data indicate that many of the signs and symptoms of bypeoidism ratients appear to reflect altered sympathetic nervous system activity. This may be the rcsult of the increase of hypersen-sitiveness in. β-adrenergic recepter.
