To study the therapeutic effect of compound traditional Chinese medicine prescription(vulneraria) on the wound,12 kinds of Chinese herbs, such as dandelion, honeysuckle and salvia, etc.,were composed of three prescriptions based on clearing away heat and toxic material, promoting blood circulation, arresting bleeding and other principles, and made them into paste.Mice models with skin injury were established and the area of wound healing, curative rate, curative time and pathological sections were used as indicator to estimate the therapeutic effect of compound traditional Chinese medicine with Mupirocin ointment as control. Results: The wound healing rate of t the vulneraria group was markedly higher than that of the vacant group(P〈0.05).There was no significant difference in the wound healing rate between the vulneraria group and the sulfadiazine silver group(P〈0.05).Both of the vulneraria and the Mupirocin ointment could promote the formation of epidermis, decrease the inflammatory cell infiltration and accelerate the proliferation of fibroblasts, resulting in scar formation. The effect of compound Chinese medicine B was the best. Conclusions: Effect of compound Chinese medicine B was similar to western medicine, and followed by C and A.Chinese vulneraria B may play a significant role in skin wound healing by decreasing the inflammatory cell infiltration, accelerating the proliferation of fibroblasts and protecting the wound from infection.
