早期基督教自诞生以来就不断受到各方面的压迫,不少坚贞的基督徒(也称殉教士)为坚持自己的宗教信仰而豪无所惧的走向"天国"。在早期罗马帝国的大背景下,早期基督教非但没有推出历史舞台,反而在夹缝中求得成长,渐成燎原之势。笔者认为,早期基督教在传播过程中之所以展现出如此巨大的吸引力,其本身的优越性固然重要,然而,殉教者大无畏殉道所体现出的精神力量对基督教在帝国能大范围传播也是起到了不小的推动作用。
