Study of Symbol Timing Synchronization in OFDM System

在正交频分复用（orthogonal frequency division multiplexing,OFDM）系统中,符号同步的目的是确定接收端每个OFDM符号的起止时刻,即确定准确的快速傅里叶变换（fast Fourier transform,FFT）窗口位置,进而实现帧同步。在对Schmidl＆Cox和H.Minn的2种符号定时同步技术进行深入研究的基础上,提出了2种改进的符号定时同步方法,并对其定时性能进行了验证。仿真结果表明：2种改进方法在OFDM系统中具有较好的定时性能。

In OFDM system, the purpose of symbol synchronization is to determine the sign of the beginning and end of each OFDM symbol in receiver, that is, to determine the precise location of the fast Fourier transform（FFT） window, thereby achieving frame synchronization. The paper proposes two modified algorithms based on the deep study of Schmidl Cox and H.Minns’ symbol timing synchronization method, and its performance is verified. The simulation results show that the two improved methods in OFDM system have good timing performance.
