摘要
由于时间概念的抽象性，人们往往将认知域中最基本的空间域映射到时间概念上来理解时间。这类以空间概念为始源域，以隐喻映射的方式构建时间概念的隐喻，是一种意象图示隐喻，被称为时空隐喻。本文以图式表征为基础，运用意象图式理论中的前后图式、容器图式和上下图式对英汉语的时空隐喻表达进行解读，揭示出英汉语空间概念表征时间概念的意义建构过程具有很大相似性，进一步说明了英汉语中以意象图式为基础的空间隐喻对时间概念进行解读的可行性。
Due to its abstract nature, people usually understand time concepts by means of mapping from the most fundamental spatial domain to time concepts. Those metaphors, in which ：spatial domain is used as source domain and time concepts are con- structed through metaphorical mapping, are image schema meta- phors, also called spatial-temporal metaphors. This paper tries to interpret spatial-temporal metaphors with front-back schema, container schema and up-down schema. The analysis shows there are strong similarities between English and Chinese in the constructional process of indicating temporal concepts by spatial concepts. It also indicates that in both languages, interpretation of time concepts with spatial metaphors by means of image schema is feasible.
