This article gives a general illustration on the history and development of foreign language education in Xinjiang. Specifically, it elaborates the international environment for the economic and social development in Xinjiang and reveals the urgent demands for talents with foreign language skills in order to maintain national security and opening policy. Then it illustrates the necessity of adjustments of foreign language education in Xinjiang and proposes principles and specific counterrueasures of adjustment.
