Automation reconstruction of normal substation is inevitable trend of the development of smart grid using computer and communication technology. This paper introduces basic functions of automation system of the traditional 35kV substation, and present condition of normal run modes. The problem and characteristics are analyzed in automation system of the traditional 35kV substation, and the related solution method was proposed.
