How an ethnic minority constructs his own unique cultural identity under the multi-cultural background is the key question raised in the novel The Salt Eaters by the contemporary African American female writer Tony Kade Bambara.It is suggested the only right choice is to define individual freedom and duty,and build up the connection with one＇s own culture in the process of identity construction.
