Charles Dickens is a great novelist in Victorian England.His late work Great Expectations describes the life of the Victorian middle class and their values,which contain three main ingredients： Evangelicalism,utilitarianism and family morality.three characters in the novel-Joe Gargery,Abel Magwitch and John Wemmick fully represent the Victorian middle class values.Joe is a representative of Evangelicalism;Magwitch,utilitarianism,and Wemmick,the practitioner of ＂idea family＂.Through the analysis,Dickens＇ attitude toward the middle class could be detected.
