Verschueren的语用顺应理论提出动态的语境观,认为语言选择是语言使用者有意识地不断调整语言、顺应语境的过程。顺应论的语境顺应观很好地解释了外事口译语境动态发展的特点,有助于指导口译员理解外事语境对译语词义选择及语言结构选择的制约,并能发挥能动性,灵活地选择译语,获得最佳的译语质量和语境效果。

Verschueren proposes dynamic contextual correlates of adaptability in the theory of adaptation,which argues that the process of linguistic choice-making is the result of language users＇ awareness to continuously adjust their language and adapt to the context.The contextual correlates of adaptability explain features of dynamic context in diplomatic interpreting.It is helpful for interpreters to understand the constraints of context on the selection of lexical meaning and of linguistic structure in diplomatic interpreting.In addition,interpreters are able to make flexible choices in delivering target language so that high interpretation quality and satisfactory contextual effect can be achieved.
