Idioms are the crystallization of human beings thinking refined from people＇s life practice and the process of their cognition of the world.They,as a cream of human being＇s language,have a great expressive and creative power.English writing is one of the important parts of college English teaching.We can＇t write a good composition full of local flavor without making good use of English idioms.This paper explores the origins and features of English idioms,talks about how to understand,accumulate and use them.The importance of knowing English idioms very well and using them wisely in college English writing is also emphasized throughout this paper.
