论钱钟书的后期汉学研究

关于钱钟书先生在汉学研究方面的贡献,人们谈及较多的是他在1940-1941年间发表于《图书季刊》(Quarterly Bulletin of Chinese Bibliography)上的《十七、十八世纪英国文学里的中国》。但是这其后,钱先生的作品里有关汉学的内容却少有人梳理。其实在钱先生回国后所参编的《书林季刊》里,在他的散文杂纂中,以及《管锥编》、《谈艺录》这样的煌煌巨著甚至其晚年的断片残卷中,都闪现着汉学的灵光。如以《十七、十八世纪英国文学里的中国》(1940)为界,将钱钟书先生的汉学研究分为前后两个阶段,考察其后期在汉学研究方面的思想和创作,可求得对钱先生之于汉学较为全面的理解。

China in the English Literature of the Seventeenth and Eighteenth Centuries is always referred to when we talk about Ch＇ien Chungshu＇s contribution to Sinology.The essays were published in Quarterly Bulletin of Chinese Bibliography during 1940-1941.After that,he actually did more work in the field of Sinology,which is evident in Philobiblon,Limited Views on Arts,and some other publications,even fragments in his later works.This article will look at his later work with a view to revalue what was ignored.
