British Policy towards Vichy Regime of France during the Period of the World War Ⅱ

二战时期英国对法国维希政权采取了军事上打击、经济上封锁、外交上接触的政策,这种政策受制于英国的国家利益,复杂的国际形势、意识形态、传统的英国外交思维以及外交决策者的个人风格,体现了英国外交政策灵活性与原则性、斗争性与妥协性相结合的特点。

During the period of the World War Ⅱ,British policy towards Vichy regime experienced complex process.In order to occupy the predominance in naval force,the Royal Navy bombarded the French Fleet at Mers-el-Kébir.In economy,the blockade was applied to German-occupied Europe and the French possessions of North and West Africa.In respect of diplomacy,Britain kept in touch with Vichy France and remained ambiguous.The British policy was influenced by the aspects such as the complex international situation and American policy towards Vichy and British support for de Gaulle and so on.From the policy with cruel dilemmas,this study aims to find the essence of pursuing natural interests and the characteristic of realism and agility in British diplomacy.
