On Creative Treason——A Case Study of Lin Yutang's English Version of The Peach Colony

"创造性叛逆"是文学翻译中一种比较常见的现象,已经逐渐引起了翻译研究者的关注和重视。林译《桃花源记》在翻译中进行"创造性叛逆"是由其独特的翻译观和翻译目的决定的。

Creative Treason is a phenomenon that sometimes appears in the translation of literary works,and it has gradually attracted the attention of some researchers.This paper first makes a brief introduction to the researches on the phenomenon,and then points out and elaborates on the places of creative treason in Lin Yutang＇s English version of The Peach Colony.After that,it explores the reasons for Lin＇s choice of creative treason in his translation.Through analysis,it finds that Lin＇s creative treason in his translation is determined by both his unique view on translation and his predetermined translation purpose.Finally it hopes that the findings will facilitate,to some extent,the understanding and analysis of Lin＇s translation of Chinese works into English.
