中英新闻导语篇章推进方式比较及其对翻译的启示

Comparison between Chinese and English News Leads in Textual Progression Patterns and Translation

本文从篇章对比语言学的角度,以中英不同类型的新闻导语为例,对它们的篇章推进方式进行比较,并探讨差异背后的原因。一般情况下,中文导语的篇章推进方式是由新闻背景推向新闻事实,而英文导语则从新闻事实推向新闻背景。这种差异缘于中西思维差异,中西媒体的新闻时效性以及性质差异等方面的因素。只有意识到这些差异的存在,译者才能真正做好中英新闻导语的翻译。

This paper is to conduct a comparison between Chinese and English news leads in terms of textual progression patterns from the perspective of contrastive linguistics and with various examples.It is concluded that Chinese news leads are progressed from background information to news,while their English counterparts are progressed the other way around.This difference may be due to the different thinking patterns between Chinese and westerners,their different attitudes to the timeli-ness of news,and the different features of medium industry in China and western countries.Only when a translator reminds himself of this difference,can he do well in news translation.
