多元文化时代的“东西”形象之颠覆与重构——论谭恩美《沉默之鱼》的人物塑造

Deconstructing and Reconstructing the Oriental and Western Images in the Multicultural Context——On Characterization in Amy Tan′s Saving Fish from Drowning

在自己全新突破的作品《沉默之鱼》中,谭恩美客观真实地描述了东方异域风光及文化,尤其对人物的具体塑造颇有深意,对东方之人物形象偏向正面描绘,而对白人之人物形象的刻画却充满批判讽刺。她用自己诙谐幽默的语言通过把异质文化之间的差异、矛盾和碰撞艺术地展现在读者面前,自我建构重塑东方人之形象,有效地反击了"东方论述",同时颠覆改变白人之形象,积极地消解了"白人优越论",表征了多元文化共存的文学诉求。

Amy Tan made a breakthrough in her latest novel Saving Fish from Drowning,in which she drew a real picture of oriental scenery and culture.She did particularly well in characterizing,intending to favorably portray the oriental images whereas describe the white images in an ironical way.Based on artistically revealing to the audience the cultural differences,cultural conflicts,and cultural shocks,she reconstructed and deconstructed the stereotyped oriental and white images so that she effectively counterattacked Orientalism,as well as positively dispelled White Supremacy.By doing this,she highlighted her literature pursuit of multiculturalism.
