透视雅斯贝尔斯《大学之理念》的现代意义

Penetrating the Modern Sense of Karl Jaspers′ The Idea of the University

雅斯贝尔斯坚信大学是一个追求真理和学术自由的地方,其生命力在于理想信念的确立及师生在知识传授中的思想碰撞。在他看来,大学存在的重要价值是要有效约束社会和人的精神沦陷,而不应在学术研究和教学活动中过于投社会与公众之所好,将注意力仅盯在学生职业技能的培养上,教师更为重要的职责是教育学生该以什么的眼光来看待这个世界。就此,对今天落陷于精神信仰危机中的中国大学而言,这不啻一针清醒剂。

Karl Jaspers believes that the university is a place to pursue truth and academic freedom,whose vitality lies in the establishment of ideal faith and the ideological collisions during the process of imparting knowledge between teachers and students.In his view,the important value of university′s existence is to constrain the spirit degeneration of the society and people effectively,rather than catering to the tastes of the society and the public in the academic research and teaching activities,and only focusing its attention on the cultivation of students′ professional skills.Teachers′ more important duty is to educate students how to look at this world.Hereby,this new idea of the university would be a dose of sobriety on today′s Chinese university stuck in spiritual belief crisis.
