1-ethyl-3-（3-dimethylaminopropyl） carbodiimide hydrochloride（EDC） was a new water soluble carbodiimide and generally utilized as condensing and crosslinking agent.The applications in organic EDC synthesis,focusing on dehydrogenation of alcohol,esterincation of acid with alcohol or phenols,synthesis of amide and peptides,synthesis of polymers,etc were reviewed.These reactions had the adv antages of mild conditions,high yields,and high chemoselecticity.
