基于CLEC分析中国英语学习者quite和rather的使用特征

Study of Usage Features of Quite and Rather by Chinese English Learners based on CLEC

自John Rupert Firth提出他的著名论断"由词之结伴可知其词"以来,对词语的使用特征的研究主要是通过研究与之搭配的词语的特性。本研究通过对比中国英语学习者语料库CLEC和本族语语料库BNC中quite和rather的搭配词使用数据,总结中国英语学习者对quite和rather的使用特征,并分析了中国英语学习者quite和rather搭配词误用的原因。

Since John Rupert Firth put forward his famous notion： ＂you should know the word by the company it keeps＂,researches about words＇ features have been conducted mainly through the study of words＇ collocations.This study compared the collocation data of ＂quite＂ and ＂rather＂ between CLEC（Chinese Learners English Corpus） and BNC（British National Corpus）,analyzing the usage feature of ＂quite＂ and ＂rather＂ by Chinese English Learners,Meanwhile,the causes of these inappropriate usages were discussed.
