[Objective]To explore the effect of treadmill exercise on the function of patients with peripheral arterial disease(PAD) in lower extremities. [Methods] Totally 118 adults in our hospital were randomly divided into study group( n =59) and control group( n =59). Both groups received the same drug treatment of PAD. The study group was additionally given 6-month supervised treadmill exercise, and the control group was not given treadmill exercise. Before and after study, 6-rninute walk experiment was done, and treadmill exercise performance was recorded, and brachial artery flow-mediated vascular endothelial function was measured by ultrasound. [Results]Compared with the control group, 6-rninute walk distance, treadmill exercise performance(maximal treadmill walk time and maximal distance to the onset of ischemic leg symptoms) and brachial artery flow-mediated vascular endothelial function im- proved obviously( P 〈0.01). [Conclusion] Treadmill exercise training can increase 6-minute walk distance and the maximal treadmill exercise time of patients with PAD in lower extremities, and improve the brachial artery flow-mediated vascular endothelial function.
