Based on the original work written by Prosper Mérimée,this paper makes a comparison between the opera Carmen and the movie Prénom Carmen.In light of esthetics principle,it understands truth,kindness and beauty from different angles and re-explores the complicated roles in Carmen.By analyzing the personality and destiny of Carmen,it reveals the esthetic magic power of roles in Carmen,characterizing the intertexture of the good and the evil,the beautiful and the ugly.
