In this paper, the methods for uncertainty evaluation of the shape position errors of gears by using Coordinate Measuring Machines(CMMs) are described. The main sources of the uncertainty of the measurement of gear parameters by using CMMs are found through the experiments, and the approaches to improve the measurement accuracy and how to determine the precision grade of the gears are presented.
