口吻是一个难以捉摸却又实实在在的翻译元素,往往给译者带来巨大的挑战。成功的译者既能准确识别原文的口吻,又能将其于译文精彩再现。口吻的翻译应该引起译界更多的注意和思考。口吻是译者不可忽视的言外之意,准确识别原文口吻是口吻翻译的前提,同时,恰当处理原文口吻,发挥译文优势,化隐为显,变模糊为具体,译文当会超越原文。

Tone is something difficult to fathom,but something real at once in the translation performance.It therefore poses great challenge to translators.Successful translators can not only recognize the tone of the source language,but more importantly,reproduce it in the target language.More attention should be paid to the translation of tone in the translating circle.This paper deals with the identification and translation of tone and suggests that tone is such an important connotative meaning that can never be neglected by translators.Meanwhile,translated work will probably be better than the original one if translators deal with the tone appropriately and take advantage of the target language.
